Allegro MicroSystems Revolutionizes Sensing with New Compact Current Sensor ICs
Allegro MicroSystems, Inc. (“Allegro”) has announced the launch of two cutting-edge current sensor ICs, the ACS37030MY and ACS37220MZ. These innovative ICs leverage Allegro’s advanced sensing technology to deliver low internal conductor resistance, high operating bandwidth, and dependable performance across a diverse range of automotive, industrial, and consumer applications.
According to Allegro MicroSystems, these new sensors set new benchmarks for precision and reliability, empowering customers to meet demanding design and efficiency standards while highlighting the company’s commitment to driving a smarter, more efficient future.
Designed for precise current sensing, Allegro’s latest ICs combine compactness with durability. Both the ACS37030MY and ACS37220MZ feature a widebody design that provides enhanced isolation in a footprint that is 40% smaller than existing 16-pin packages. Additionally, their innovative designs incorporate lower resistance to reduce power dissipation.
The ACS37030MY is a fully integrated current sensor IC with the industry’s fastest response time, making it ideal for protecting wide bandgap GaN devices. It utilizes a combination of Hall-effect and inductive coil signal paths to sense current over a broad frequency range. The result is a solution that is 5x faster and 40% smaller than existing alternatives. For applications requiring lower isolation, the ACS37030 is also available in a narrow-body package.
The ACS37220MZ, another fully integrated Hall-effect current sensor, offers a 150 kHz bandwidth and includes a fault pin for enhanced functionality. This device is designed to serve value-line current sensing applications and is positioned as the successor to the popular ACS724/5 family. Its new package delivers a 40% reduction in solution size and features lower resistance to minimize power dissipation.
